Currently, I am working on a project to create an API using C# to get certain data from our organizations GitHub. We have daily standups which are 15 mins and we talk about our progress and if we have any blockers. We also have weekly demos at the end of the week with our stakeholder to show him our progress.
I have learnt many new skills including: JavaScript, HTML, CSS, C# and GitHub. We have upskilled a lot in our time on this apprenticeship which has been really helpful.
I enjoy my programme quite a lot. It's given me a real opportunity to see how big companies work and operate and how we can integrate well into them.
My programme is very well structured. We had an initial 6 week launchpad in college which gave us some basic knowledge which would help us in work. Then, every few month we go into college for a week to complete our modules.
We receive a lot of support from our employer. When we first joined, we were given a 'buddy' that helped us when we had any questions as we were new starters. We are also given a career coach who we talk to on a regular basis and can communicate with whenever we have any issues or concerns.
We receive quite a bit of support when we are in college. When we are outside of college time and have any queries to do with the assignment, we can always send an email to our lecturers.
Some things we have learnt are really helpful. For example, learning JavaScript helped in our project. There was also the SDLC project which was helpful as most teams work in an agile way which was helpful to know from before.
There are many networking and social events that take place and quite a lot of networks and communities you can join.
