My day-to-day role involves me placing material orders, updating spreadsheets with the relevant information, liaising with suppliers, monitoring staff's annual leave entitlement, putting together folders to keep information secure, monitoring vehicles speed and journeys, goods receipting purchase orders once we have received the goods and just general admin duties.
I have really developed my communication skills both verbal and non-verbal. I have learnt how to deal with suppliers on the phone and how to communicate with them so it works both for them and me. Having stronger communication skills has allowed me to become more confident within my job role and I have been able to establish a good relationship with suppliers.
I enjoy my programme and feel as though I am able to learn what I need to whilst being at work. I feel like I can access support where I need it as I have been told how to access this support whether it be from my colleagues or someone else within the business.
My programme is well organised as I enrolled with the college as soon as I started. I was kept informed of the process and what I was going to be doing/ what is required of me. The timescales that were set out for my college work and exam have been followed.
I receive a good level of support and I am able to access help where I need it. If I am unsure of anything I know I can speak up and get the help required. I have also been given updates on my progress throughout which I have found helpful.
I have great support from the college (my tutor) as I have got help where I needed it and the tasks I have been given have been fully explained before being handed to me for completion. I have always been informed on my progress and if I am meeting the set timescales.
I think the qualification (Business Admin) has helped me perform better in my job role as I now have a strong understanding of the way the business I work for runs and how my job role fits into that. I have been able to gain a better understanding of my job role.
There are different programmes and groups available for employees to join. I think this is really good and beneficial as it builds the relationship of people in the business that may not be involved with each other or work with one another if these groups/activities were not an option.
Yes
I feel that Tarmac are a good company to work for as they value their employees and I have been able to access all the support required since starting my job here. I also like what Tarmac are putting into place and working towards to help the environment and becoming net zero.
To research the company and their values before applying.
