In the restaurant I would serve customers, prepare food, lead a team, plan shifts, handle cash, check food safety and health and safety. I organised training and onboarding of staff. I planned recognition and performance reviews.
Emotional intelligence and coaching. I learned a lot about finance and the importance of gathering and using customer feedback.
I enjoy learning and refreshing my skills, the programme allowed me to do that while I worked my usual shifts so I enjoyed it very much.
Very organised, my coach always had my next tasks prepared and the meetings and HIGs were organised well too. I was one of the first to complete the level 4 in the UK so my coach didn’t have the best knowledge of what to expect but it went well.
I was allowed to work on what I needed to and plan in my on the job training too. I was scheduled time to complete my learning.
My coach and mentor were always available if I needed help and support and met me at least monthly for teaching and learning.
My qualification has helped me gain the skills and confidence to progress in my role and successfully start a secondment and gain a promotion.
You can get involved in the McDonalds football cup or golf day but not many other opportunities when working in the restaurant. I’d love to see a netball team.
