Managing the pub and supporting the pub manager. Giving customers great customer service and resolving issues. I do this by providing refunds if necessary. Compliance with laws and guidelines such as EHO and challenge 25. Knowledge of risks and due diligence. People management and managing large teams.
Learnt a lot more about laws surrounding hospitality as well as drinks pairings which I wouldn’t have learnt otherwise.
I enjoyed the independent study and the opportunities I got to progress as a result.
I struggled at the start as I don’t think it was clearly explained what I had to do and when so I fell slightly behind. Pub managers need more education on apprenticeships so employees receive adequate time to study.
I didn’t receive much support originally as I didn’t get the time I needed to study initially but after this was sorted I had the correct support and was offered solutions to attention issues to support my study.
I received a great amount of support however I wish there had been more opportunity to meet my provider more than twice.
I think the knowledge I gained was great and helped me towards further promotion and acceptance onto a degree.
None, I manage my personal LinkedIn profile which I use as a working portfolio.
Yes
I’ve received more opportunities than I ever would have at another business. They’ve been supportive of my learning approach and encouraged my ideas.
Hard work pays off! Be confident and show willingness to learn.
