Working on different types of pumps and motors with loads of different equipment working inside electrical pannels learning new components and hoe the site works and how water is sent out of the gate and delivered to peoples houses either from a reservoir or from a borehole they all have the same process
I have learnt many new skills at my time here, I have learned what type of electrical cable to use, how different pumps will react differently and that you can have many different ways to program them, you can have them start on drives if the pressure is too low or is the reservoir is getting to high
I do really enough my programme, I am happy with the people I work with and the jobs I complete, I would change some things about how it all works as i feel like it could run a lot smoother than it is going currently but it’s not effecting me massively
I would say my programme has been structured terribly I think I have had an unfortunate year with my apprenticeship I’ve changed colleges had to re do exams learn things twice as there isn’t much or any communication which does get on my nerves and there are more issues I would like to change but not my place to say
I do receive support from my employer but not as much as I would’ve hoped for I have gone to my colleagues more than anyone else and lucky they have been able to help me out a lot which is good but I think some things could be worked on to get more support for apprentices
Again with the support I have had to figure more of it out on my own due to people changing jobs and leaving and having new people hired I have had to change my work a few times now to make the assessor happy when the old assessor said my work was fine it’s kind of annoying but not a lot can be done
The qualifications are very helpful and useful but I do believe I learn a lot more at work hands on asking about certain things like why are we using this type of cable instead of the other for example and that’s just things you don’t really learn about
There aren’t many other things I would’ve liked a sports team as I know years ago there was a few but unfortunately they are gone now, I don’t think there are any other activities that they offer would be nice to sit and discuss things with suppliers and go to events for new pumps as we work with them all day and know what we need
Yes
I would recommend but I would also be very sceptical as if they had the same amount of changes and picky things that I did I wouldn’t of recommended them as I don’t think it would be fair on them if I told them it’s a good place to work and then they have to go through the same stuff I did
Apply for the correct job you want and I know a few people who have joined here with the thought and intention of doing what they had hoped but it is different as I know some electricians but when they got here it wasn’t what they wanted and hoped for it was more just replacing things instead of properly installing new things
