I work as an audit trainee within the Natural resources, energy and shipping sector. I work within a team completing execution and planning work on audited entities in order gain assurance that significant financial statement areas are not materially misstated. There is a lot of team work and training involved and I get to work with lots of different people and BDO clients.
I have learned a lot about accounting and auditing. I have improved my excel and computer skills as well as my ability to analyse and critically evaluate information.
It can be very tough, however you have the support of lots of trainees and staff.
The programme is well structured and there are people in BDO who I can reach out to to assist with training and meeting my competencies.
I receive support via my people manager and professional qualifications team in meeting the required competencies of my training programme.
I get time off in order to study for my qualifications.
The technical knowledge is immensely important to understand the work I am required to complete. I am able to take on more complex work because of the qualification training.
There are lots of work socials and events. Throughout the week there is so much happening including the opportunity to join netball leagues, compete in tennis competitions and join arts and craft sessions.
Yes
There is a really fun atmosphere, the work is challenging however you are given the training and guidance to meet the challenge. I have made really good connections and friends whilst working at BDO.
