Local councils bid on funding for energy upgrade grants, when they are sucessfull and choose our company as a delivery partner, I work with local councils and housing associations and plan the tenant engagement for the residents so that we can make sure the tenants are engaged and supported through the journey of having energy efficiency measures installed in/on their homes.
I have developed some of my existing skills such as how to accurately plan for and track performance, how to create a project plan in an industry recognised way. I've learned more about methods and tools that can support everythi8ng from the day to day tracking of a project to how to forecast time floats and critical paths.
I enjoy learning about new methods and techniques that make me better at what i do. I find the workload a challenge due to being so busy already and i find a few of the topics hard to put into practice as they sit within different roles within the company .
My programme isnt very well structured. There are 6 modules to complete in level 4 and depending on when you join the programme depends on what module you start on. I started in October and started with Module 6. As a result i understood little of the content and had no context for it. I think it would be much better is everyone started on module 1 and worked their way through in a logical way.
I'm let to get on with it. The only thing i struggle with is when the schemes are in the kick off phase, its incredibly busy and i struggle to get time to attend class and don't get my 20% in. When it quietens down later on i can make up for the lost allocation and get more time to catch up so on average it works out. Unfortunately the busy time is currently happening alongside my assignment time.
We get very little help. There are tools like cite them right and a few courses you can go on to get some additional pointers but the problem is the course is self taught. The tutor sessions are just break out groups where we work in small groups to find the answer to set questions then present them back, there is no actual teaching and very little context to real life work experience.
I do pick things up as i'm learning that i can use but it is hard to spot them when you don't have any context. I feel if the course was actually taught and the topics worked through in a way that was linked to our jobs, with examples and mock run throughs it would become apparent where the learning could support my current role.
There are some activities and some networking and development groups. The women in business group looks particularly good. There are many other groups such as diversity and inclusion groups that are availoable for anyone to join. Our LGBTQ+ and embRACE networks are particularly active and host events such as fundraisers and awareness campaigns

The area i work in is very good at supporting people and their development. There is opportunity to learn and progress. The company overall is excellent at supporting people and i'm really proud of how it is inclusive and promotes exclusivity. We are cared for when working. rule 1 where i work is "we dont hurt people"
You need to be willing to give it a lot of effort. Everyone in my department is working towards a goal and each one of us must be committed to doing an excellent job. The payback is worth the effort. We are well compensated for our efforts and its good to know what you do everyday helps the country become more sustainable and people are genuinely helped by what we do.
