4 year program made up of 6, 6 monthly rotations and a final year long rotation with business improvement project during the final year. Rotations are tailored to experience of apprentices and get more independent as the apprentice gets more experienced within the business. Cross functional interactions with other teams as well as contact with customers outside of the business allows development and growth within the business
Consistently challenged with new skills and developing skills within the business throughout the apprenticeship. Due to the nature of the program there is a special interest in leadership and management related skills such as presenting, project management.
I enjoy the program as there is a good mix between the professional engagement and development as well as social aspects of having many cohorts in different years to network with.
The program is now well structured and improvements are consistently being made to improve how the rotations and programme is run through feedback from existing and previous apprentices.
Support is available within teams in role and also within your own apprentice cohort as well as both the apprentice manager and line manager for the current rotation. Support is also available through mental health first aiders and external links within the business.
We are allowed to take up to 4 hours a week and university days as agreed with lecturer as time to work towards the degree. The business also gives ample opportunities for off the job training days and sessions which help support development
Although possible to do any of the roles on site without the qualification, the addition of it definitely helps you to ensure that you are able to form stronger links between theorists and how to use the teaching to become better leaders. It also gives you a level of experience quicker than without it
There are ample extra curricular activities to get involved in at work. These are both within the apprentice community as well as within the wider organisation. These include sports events and teams, social activities both within the cohorts and for wider teams.
Yes
Great opportunities once in the business and great standard of teaching provided by the university. The salary is high for apprenticeship and get to work with great teams of people while at work.
Its ok not to know what the end goal is for a career at GE as this apprenticeship allows you to move around the supply chain and figure out where you might want to be at the end of the 4 years
