As an apprentice I do all types of jobs around the store, sometimes I go on the tills and scan customers’ shopping through, I stock up the shelves with back stock products or from new deliveries. I also sometimes scan through waste products and products that can go to charity.
I have learned many new things at Aldi, like how to rotate stock efficiently and how to work the machinery like the baler and the tills. In my old job I also used tills which I was able to transfer over but on Aldi tills there are a lot more commands.
I enjoy my programme a lot as I have made good friends with the people that I work with and I am doing new tasks compared to my old job. I enjoy the new environment I am in as there are more tasks than other jobs I have done and the types of customers are more varied.
My programme is very structured and organised as I have feedback from my apprentice trainer and my manager. I also see my apprentice trainer quite often and she helps me with the Aptem system and talks me through what to do, how to do it and when to do it by.
I receive a lot of support from my employer as they provided me with the training I need and they make sure I am notified of any changes in the store regarding the running of the store. I am also given constructive criticism when I am doing jobs or given encouragement when doing jobs.
I am given a lot of support from my training provider as she often helps me to understand what tasks I have to do and makes sure I know how to do them properly. She also comes for visits to my store where we meet face to face so she can see how I do my job and give me feedback.
I feel like I perform well because of my apprenticeship as I know I am learning in order to become a better employee, to get my apprenticeship and also potentially move up within my current place of work. This makes me want to perform better as it encourages me to work to get to where I want to be.
Sometimes we go out after work to bond with each other so we can create stronger bonds with each other as that can help us work better with each other. This also helps us as we are then more understanding with each other which makes us less prone to potential confrontation.
Yes
It’s a great place to work and everyone is very welcoming and helpful. everyone gets on well with everyone and it creates a positive environment. It can also mean that they can also make friends with the employees and that means that they can have more friends and do more activities outside of work.
I would tell people applying to work for Aldi to be receptive to criticism as it can help to make you better at your job. I would also tell people applying to try to make bonds with their coworkers as it means that work become more enjoyable as you’re around people you know
