The overview of my role is that i assist companies and insures with dealing with claims. I can assist with this by obtaining documentaion from different parties, making payments on behalf of insurers, assisting insurers with adminstration. At the moment, my day-to-day basis involves going through my inbox ensuring all new claims are set up, any outstanding payments for the Cargo team is being actioned and assisting with any of my colleagues workload when needed.
I have learnt many new skills and developed on many aswell. Firstly, the new skills i have learnt is professionalism in my emails, being professional in a work enviroment. The skills i have developed on are communication, being organized, taking priorty in workloads, distguinishing what is a priorty and what isnt , team-work, active listening and my body language.
I enjoy my programme but not to an extent where i would be thrilled to take it again. The reasoning for this is due to firstly duplication of work what i mean by this is that when starting a new company there is a lot of starter training that you have to complete which makes sense however it seems that with the set work with my appprenticeship provider there is an overlap with the same training for example communication skills. I feel like this overlap of traning could be put to much better use. Other than that i do enjoy the programme throughly with all the reviews with coaches and support with exams.
My Programme is very structed and well organised. Davies uses Aptem which has a great website whereas it shows the amount off-the-job hours you have completed as well as monthly tasks you have to complete. There is also quartely webinars in which relates to your exams and provides excellent support. A new update with Aptem espically in which i think is great is structed questions for completing off-the-job hours and this helps so much with explaining how your off-the-job hours are beneficial to your skills and career.
I recieve excellent support from Marsh and espcially my Team. Marsh has various individuals/teams that you can go to if you have any problems work-related or not. For example, if you run into a technical issue Marsh has a service desk in which you can speak to a live agent who can assist with your problem. If you have personal issues then Marsh offer so many and great resource groups in whom will happliy listen to any problems you may have.
A great ammount. There is quartely webinars in which relates to your exams. These Webinars are lead by my training providers Coaches whom are experts in the sector relating to our exam. There is also monthly reviews with my Coach who is happy to speak about any problems with exams and there is also frequent workshops in which also relates to my exams. The only thing i wished they did was have session in which they go through past mock exams.
I feel since learning 2 books so far it has helped myself with my role immensely this is because coming into this role i have had 0 experience in Insurance so therefore any learning about insurance helps me connect dots with my role so much more easiler. For example when going through a claim i can tell easily whom which parties are and their involvment with the claim.
There is so many networking events at Marsh which makes it a great place to work. For example, from the start of my career at Marsh i joined the Young Professionals resource group which has led me to make so many new friends and connections as well as brilliant memories in which i will never forget. I also have had the chance to join a Marsh Sunday league football team in which i really enjoy participating in.
Yes
Marsh is a great place to start your proffesional career. This is because there is so many oppurtunities and support from the company that if you didn't enjoy your role you could also go find a different oppurtunity. Marsh also comes with so many benefits in which you can't turn down.
Research the company. I never knew what i wanted to do but after researching i knew that the insurance/finance world was for me this was because the oppurtunities that came along with the sector. After i knew this is what i wanted to work in i researched and applied for many companies i thought would be a good fit for example Marsh. I would also recommend speaking to anyone you may know who works for Marsh just to ensure it is the right thing
