I manage the commercial side of all our portfolio of contracts. This includes producing tenders, managing the application for payment process, managing changes, and cost/value reporting.
Communicational skills, team working and collaborative skills, problem solving skills, organisation and prioritising.
Thoroughly enjoyed the programme. At times, it was intense with university studies, but it was worth it in the end. Working and studying concurrently is the way to go in order to develop quickly in the early years of your career.
Quantity surveying is a profession with many disciplines. The RICS APC has many competencies to meet, including a few optional ones. Therefore some flexibility is required in any QS training programme in order to grow professionally and get these necessary experiences.
Ample support, especially as I was encouraged to take extra time away from the workplace to focus on exams and coursework.
A good level of support - It's a university so it's natural that you're required to work more independently and manage your workload yourself.
I'd say 60% was relevant to my role, the other 40% was relevant to the industry, which of course is also very useful, but not directly used in my day to day role.
Social events, awards evenings, training days.
Yes
Great atmosphere and very rewarding.
Having some knowledge of the infrastructure sector and the NEC suite of contracts would be advantageous.
