Since working at Muller, I have been given access to a number of development opportunities. These range from learning as part of a buddy system all the way to being enrolled onto the degree apprenticeship. The company have also invested in me to complete food safety, safety and CI based training courses.
The programme is very enjoyable and has also allowed me to push myself out of my comfort zone which I believe will help to develop me as a person. I find some modules more interesting and more specific to my current job role than others but I can already see an improved version of myself.
The programme is well structured and spread out enough so that you are able to carry out studying as well as maintain the commitments of a full time job. The NTU Now portal allows you to plan ahead and be well prepared for lectures but is also good if you fall behind and need to refresh your memory.
The employer is very supportive and allows me to use my allocated time to study, carry out projects, work on assignment and also attend campus. They provide personal and financial support which enables me to get the most out of the course as possible. My company mentor is also very supportive.
Whilst on campus, the support I receive from the provider is very good, however it has become apparent that it can sometimes be difficult to contact them for support when you are not on campus. There however is alot of online support which is very easy to access and view
Currently, I am not seeing a great deal of benefit as I have only completed my first initial year. However, I am beginning to learn things which once I have better knowledge and understanding of will support in improvements within my role. Personally I feel my interpersonal skills have improved drastically
Due to the nature of the degree apprenticeship, there isn't really any spare time available to partake in additional activities. As part of our cohort, it has been discussed that we could benefit from organising day tours across each manufacturing site in a bid to gain a greater understanding of different parts of the food industry
Yes
The provider gives a fully professional service at all times. All lecturers and support staff seem to have a vast knowledge of all topics and the majority of them have worked in the food industry prior to becoming a lecturer. Therefore, they are able to make the lectures more specific
Prior to application, ensure that you have full understanding of what is required of you to complete the course. This course should not be started if you have large commitments or planned commitments in your personal life. Remain focussed throughout the course and ask questions between your peer group and the lecturers
