I work on supporting the effective delivery of the project. I attend customer meeting where strategies are discussed, recommendations are made and queries are raised and answered. I raise invoices, release and query invoices. I am the point of contact for customer queries. I work with material controllers to make sure engineers have materials to fulfil works on trains.
I have developed a plethora of skills, but most importantly communication and time management skills. I have to communicate with a wide range of colleagues, from the engineers to the wider commercial team. Given the size of the project, it is important to communicate effectively with colleagues. Time management is critical in supporting in effective delivery of the project.
I enjoy my programme as there is a clear pathway to development and career enrichment. Each placement manager is understanding and supportive and our line manager is very understanding and genuinely cares about our personal development. Each aspect of the programme allows for our development and being on different projects and in different business units allows full exposure to Siemens,
The programme is structured very well as it provides training and opportunities for development, personally and professionally. The programme is organised in a way that you are able to experience a lot of the entire business through rotational placements. The programme is very established as it has been going on for a long time which means the programme works well.
My employer is very understanding and supportive. Siemens embraces all of their employees and works to create an open and safe culture to work in. The environment as a result of the support provided by Siemens means that all of the employees feel appreciated and enjoy turning up to work.
Kaplan provides a lot of support, through regular 1 to 1s with our talent coach who support us if we need it. there are many learning methods available from in person, to live on line as well as on demand prerecorded videos. There are no repercussions for exam failure and makes us feel motivated to work harder and try again
The information learnt in exams such as balance sheet, statement of profit and loss and forecasting help to found a sound basis on important topics that follow through on my accountancy journey. The exams provide theoretical insight that helps me to apply correct theory to real life.
I have been involved in many extra-curricular activities such as Big Rail Diversity which is a fun physical day out to recognise women in rail. I also am greatly involved in EDI, mainly running Lunch and Learn events on important events for ethnic minorities such as Lunar New Year and Black History Month
Yes
Siemens has helped to begin my professional career. The support provided by my line manager has been excellent and constantly supportive. I have learnt a lot in many different placement across multiple business units as well as doing all of this in a safe environment supported by friendly and helpful people.
My advice would be to be yourself! Siemens welcomes unique people and personalities, it is the reason why we are so innovative. If you have any reservations, Siemens is an amazing place to work, with lots of locations and businesses to work in. Be up to date with all the work Siemens is doing, do your research on the business you are applying to.
