I really enjoy my job. I am kept really busy and am really involved in my team, getting to visit sites regularly and write up reports. The site visits really help consolidate my knowledge of construction and writing reports really helps me to embed my knowledge and improve my professional skills for my future career.
I have developed my social skills significantly, networking with new people and meeting new people on a regular people. I have also significantly improved my knowledge of the construction industry, already within 1 year! I understand elements I never thought I would understand a few years ago and feel confident in beginning to identify defects, materials and works occuring.
I really enjoy my programme. The lecturers are great and I feel that I have a proactive and involved role in my apprenticeship, getting to communicate with the wider university community and having the ability to engage and communicate with my lecturers and teachers on a regular basis - who are very supportive.
It is well organised, however when I first joined there were issues with the differentiatrion of the full time students and the part timers (i.e us - apprentices). Our coursework dates were all over the place and there was great confusion about what work was relevant to us. These issues now seem to have resolved.
My employers are very supportive. They are always trying to provide me with further training and CPD, as well as a great variety of jobs and works to ensure I am getting enough experience to help me to become qualified when I finish my apprentice university course in 4 years time.
They allow me to have the thursday release day always and I am rarely, if ever, contacted by them when I am at university, which is really good, helping me focus on my studies on that day - so I am not flooded/ overwhelmed by work responsibilitys on my day release.
My qualifications will be most useful to ensuring I can become qualified at work. Without university I would not have developed the level of knowledge which I now have. The course helps me to understand basic building pathology and defects which is essential to my job role and everyday work.
No not at univeristy. At work we have away days
Yes
I really enjoy my job and fel that it is an inclusive, lovely company to work for. They have been so supportive and so generous with all the resources and time they give to me to help explain elements of the industry which I do not completely understand yet.
