My role can vary from day-to-day, however my experience usually involves assisting the Mobile App Development team with work taking place in each Agile sprint, this can involve maintenance, the addition of new pages to the application, investigating raised issues and bugs, and various other tasks involving the maintenance and continued support of the mobile app.
Yes, I have learned numerous essential skills that will likely assist me in my jobs for the rest of my career. I learned essential skills such as ideal/efficient communication in a live working environment with professional courtesy's and treatment, I have learned other skills such as functional coding, application development and IT skills, along with various other essential skills.
I very thoroughly enjoy my program, my colleagues are positive people who assist me in my development and work, polite and kind, the work I complete is fulfilling and helps me learn further skills. The hybrid working scheme, hours and pay are all entirely reasonable for the level of work I complete, and I generally enjoy my work
While I believe I am the first apprentice to join the mobile app teamspecifically, Newcastle Building Society as a whole has an Early Talent Program which excels in helping work placements, apprentices, university joiners and various other new members of the society adjust to their time working there and meet new people.
I believe I receive a very essential level of support from the Society, workers all received a bonus to adjust to the cost of living crisis and raises are frequent and fair. The society also places a heavy emphasis on inclusion, respect and the mental health of it's employees.
I have a very useful level of support from my team when it comes to working towards my qualifications, I am able to get in touch with my training coach quickly, usually with little delay, there are constant remarkings when it comes to assignment work, quick response times and frequent, scheduled check-ins.
I believe that while it is not essential, the support of my training provider offers me a wide variety of positive information and learning that can help me perform my role more efficiently, essential topics such as methodologies, testing, development and communication as a team are also discussed thoroughly and allow me to perform better in my duties.
Yes, there are frequent and beneficial volunteering opportunities that take place at the society, and other activities such as Yammer, a social media platform for the workplace, and several Coding Clubs that can all be volunteered for outside of working. Along with this there are staff dinners, work night outs and various other activities that can be volunteered for.
Yes
While I am limited in my experience when it comes to the working world, I believe that Newcastle Building Society truly values it's employees and customers as people, wanting what is best for them and making strides to improve the overall quality of life for all stakeholders of the company.
I believe the best advice I could give is to be yourself, again while my experience is somewhat limited I have learned that Newcastle Building Society is eager to provide opportunities to all, and positions are frequently accepting new applicants. The work environment is healthy and safe, and overall you will be valued as a person, so being honest in your intentions and goals may help.
