I am a database administrator at JP Morgan. My role involves oversight and monitoring of the databases we are responsible for.
I have learnt a large number of new skills since joining JP Morgan last year. I definitely believe that my technical knowledge has grown rapidly and I have also been able to improve my abilities to work under pressure and do so effectively.
I love the apprenticeship! I am incredibly happy that I chose this route and have no regrets. Every day has been excellent and I thoroughly enjoy the atmosphere here.
I feel very valued within the team. I am given a great deal of support by colleagues and other teams which makes me feel very comfortable when I am on site.
The programme is very well organised. There are plenty of opportunities to get involved with activities on site and away from campus such as careers events. There is also a very well structured support network which provides a good platform if there are any questions that you may have
I receive a great deal of support from the training provider. After every lecture there is the opportunity to ask questions which we have and even contact them outside of lecture hours, via email. It is very reassuring knowing that I can easily contact one of the lecturers.
Since joining the firm, I have received an amazing amount of support. There are many different channels available such as mentoring, 'buddy' systems and the main one being support from team and manager. I am always being encouraged positively with the work I do.
I feel that the salary I earn definitely meets my costs well.
There are a large number of opportunities to get involved outside of work. For example I have recently joined one of the JPM sporting clubs which is great for socialising and networking.
Yes
It is an amazing place to work full of different opportunities. There has never been a dull moment and I've thoroughly loved my time here. I have always felt comfortable working and knowing that I have a great network behind me should I need to ask questions.
Go in with an open mind would be my main bit of advice. The number of roles available is huge. Also a good tip would be to take up as much as you can. The quicker you can get involved with work events, the sooner you can start to settle in and meet new people who will have great advice for you regarding your career.
