  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Managing projects as a technical design authority, this would include the tasks of both a project manager and a business analyst. I also take up coding responsibilities in my role. My day largely consists of talking to both stakeholders and my coding team, this would normally take place in terms of daily calls.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have not only become a much more frequent coder but I have also developed an understanding of how teams work in the IT field. This has been helpful as I can now lead projects by myself and run projects at a self sufficient level, similar to that of more experience team members/

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The university side will not be recommended myself but I have enjoyed developing my skills. I feel like I am a high performer amongst my peers at work, but have struggled at the development side more so. I get along with my colleagues and have great relationship outside of work with my peers.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I have had a mix bag with the programme side of things particularly towards the education side of my role. Both my team and close colleagues have given me a vast amount of support thus far and I have had great opportunities to work in projects that I am proud of.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Financially, I believe I can be more compensated for my work, although I do receive enough praise and recognition. When in need of advice I am comfortable and regularly seek help from my mentors and peers. There have been some experiences where I would like to have more concise help but no one is able to directly support myself where I have had to spend more time researching myself.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • A lack of support from a training provider can be highly frustrating and hinder your progress towards achieving your qualifications. It is crucial for training providers to offer comprehensive guidance, resources, and assistance to ensure their learners' success. Ineffective support can manifest in various ways, such as limited access to study materials, insufficient communication channels, unresponsive instructors, or a lack of personalized attention.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It is important for training providers to recognize the significance of providing robust support systems to their learners, fostering an environment that nurtures growth, addresses concerns promptly, and offers the necessary resources and guidance to facilitate academic success. By fostering an environment that empowers learners and provides the necessary tools for success, training providers can play a crucial role in helping individuals thrive in their professional endeavors.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I am a lead candidate in presenting my youth community in my wider domain, here I host some meetings such as coffee roulette and participate in volunteering events. These events including helping schools out in my local community with some peers which I enjoy as a break from normal work.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Vodafone to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I think roles in the company are varying, but from my experience I have met great people who have helped me a variety of ways that have brought out the best in me. I think more pay would encourage more people to join my company but I am content with my current role

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Vodafone?
  • I would reach out to people already in roles to understand differing teams and judge if the role is what they are looking for. The procedure to apply was tough but with enough preparation and a good performance in the assessment centre/interview, I think the whole experience was enjoyable.
