My role as a trainee Cardiac Physiologist involves a range of clinical and non-clinical duties. I conduct non-invasive tests such as Electrocardiograms, hooking patients up to ECG/blood pressure monitors, assisting in Exercise Tolerance Tests, as well as being involved in invasive procedures- such as coronary angiograms/stents, pacemaker implants etc.
I have both- learnt new skills and developed existing skills further. My communication with patients has significantly improved, as I have grown more confidence as my knowledge base has expanded. I have also learnt a lot more about cardiology/ the cardiovascular system and the various different procedures that can be done to help patients have a better quality of life.
I am really enjoying this programme, as I get to develop my practical skills, as well as learn the theory behind the different tests and procedures we do in cardiology.
I feel my programme is quite well structured, but sometimes feel the apprentices aren't given as much attention as the full-time students.
I feel my employer has been supportive throughout my programme. My mentor has been especially supportive and I feel comfortable going to her with any issues.
I feel I am in the right place to gain my practical experience and gain new skills.
I feel my qualification would mean I could perform more complex tests and gain further knowledge. I would also be able to get involved in the invasive cases in the lab.

I feel Circle health group has many opportunities for staff to progress in terms of their career. It is good to keep gaining new skills- it keeps the job interesting.
I would tell them to keep an open mind, as there are many different types of people and roles in the hospital. It is nice to be able to meet new people and be part of a big team.
