On a day to day basis, I work on a specific client, testing different transections using different techniques, in order to identify any misstatements, or signs of fraud. I also have to log my testing and the whole process of it. The client I work on changes usually every few weeks. The location I work for can vary, I can work from home, office, or the client sites.
I had no knowledge of accounting before starting this apprenticeship, so all the auditing knowledge I have learnt is from working at Mazars. I am able to use professional scepticism effectively and can understand a lot more about the financial statements. I have also developed other soft skills, such as communication, time management.
I enjoy my programme a lot, this is mostly due to the people I work with, they are extremely supportive and understanding. They will help you overcome any challenges and are willing to answer any of your question. They openly welcome you in the team, and unsure that you fit in perfectly.
The programme is very organised, the whole schedule is updated so you know what to expect. The courses are updated if you go college so you have an idea of what to expect at college. The clients are also updated so I know where I am meant to working from and with who.
I receive support in everything mostly, they provide me support to help me increase my knowledge and also develop my skills, but if I need any other type of support then I can always speak to my manager about it, she usually does her best to support me in every way possible.
Training provider has the best tutors, who literally go out of their way to support you, they are available if you have any questions. They make their lessons engaging and explain concepts to you thoroughly. They also have online platforms for students on which we can ask questions on and usually the responses are quick too.
It helps a lot, as I complete more exams, I am able to understand more of my work which allows me to complete my work to a higher standard and more independently.
Every month, my team has socials, which usually include eating out or celebrating something. Even in the wider office we have events to celebrate certain things like Eid, or Christmas. The office also gets involved with the community, so for example any events that are happening, we are always encouraged to participate in.
Yes
Mazars has a very nice friendly atmosphere and they will support you through your journey of becoming an auditor and make it more fun.
Be yourself, tell them any concerns you have and also your strengths. Ask them any question, even if you think they are stupid.
