Using Project Management tools to maintain the baseline of our major output (submarines) We report on any baseline variations including risk positions and total float. We engage with key stakeholders and the planning teams to assist in any queries we or they may have regarding the maintenance of the level 3 plan.
I have developed my skills using P6 as this is something I have never used before. I have also improved my communication skills both within my team and with teams outside of my own. It has also greatly improved my confidence within the business as I am able to discuss in depth core components of the Submarines.
I thoroughly enjoy working within Project Management as it is very challenging both academically and professionally. The first year of uni was fairly easy but the second has greatly ramped up the difficulty. I am also enjoying the work I am undertaking and the revolving 12 month placement model is a great opportunity to work in plenty of different areas.
The programmes is structured well however there are a few growing pains when you first join the business - not knowing where you are going or lack of important information and finding it hard to reach out to those who would know however once you settle in things become very well structured and it is clear who can assist if you ever need it.
You receive constant feedback from both your line manager in the professional sense and from your support team in regards to your professional progression. You also receive some great support from the university in terms of your academic profession. You are constantly having reviews where your work and exams are reviewed and you are informed of how well you are performing.

There are plenty of examples where you learn about something through your Uni day and then you will do work surrounding it within placement this has happened extremely early within my career through the learning of Gannt Charts and network diagrams. YOu feel like you are always learning and applying your learning through out your career.
There are plenty of opportunities to get involved with stretch projects which are outside your regular scope of work and often involve you assisting departments you normally wouldn't work with - I have gotten involved with plenty of open days with early careers where I get discuss my function and try and get people to apply.
Yes
They are a great employer and you constantly know where you are with them, they constantly provide you with feedback as to how you are progressing. They offer plenty of benefits and support you with the work aspect of your role but also the mental health side through the use of Occupational Health.
The advice I would give for this role and for any job interview is to research the role and the company you are applying for. For PM I would recommend looking into the basic principles of Project Management (Time, Cost & Quality). For BAE I would recommend looking into our outputs and who are primary contractor is.
