As a corporate tax assistant I am responsible for managing our client risk admin and assisting the managers with advisory work such as completing research to help draft memo's. I also help with the review of comps and coach newer grads/apprentices.
Yes- the main skill is professional communication both internally and externally with clients. Tea work is also relied on daily.
I thoroughly enjoy my programme. I have been granted a vast amount of opportunities including working in different areas of the business. The people at KPMG are great and I have a really great team.
Our programme structure was very flawed. Being in a regional office we had much less opportunities to move around the business on our 360 programme. The programme was scrapped the year after my start year. There are currently no apprenticeships for tax at KPMG.
Support definitely depends on the area of the business you work in. In tax we have a great support network across the region.
Tolleys are a great training provider. We have regular calls with a training coach who keeps track of our progress and offers advice for both qualification, work and personal related issues.
My qualification is directly related to my day to day role, often seeing real life client scenarios on my job that I have learnt in class.
Yes there are regular social events such as team lunches, games nights, Newmarket races etc. There are lots of opportunities for professional networking events if this is something you're interested in.
Yes
It a great employer which a good range of benefits, including ability to work from home and decent pay on the apprenticeship scheme and the jump start scheme allowing us to finish at lunch time on fridays during the summer months.
Be yourself during the application process. KPMG want to employee people who will add value to their business and fit into their values.
