Commuting to a different site everyday, some being Prisons, or Hospitals, or Universities. Most work in the first couple years is shadowing and copying an Engineer within my Team at Schneider Electric allowing me to gain an understanding of everything before being let go to work more alone. I help service, maintain and upgrade control systems at these buildings or companies.
I learn new skills everyday, either while learning for my degree through university lectures or learning new things on site, possibly how to fix or replace components on site, or using out Schneider Electric Ecostuxure software and learning new features and tools to help implement new upgrades to our customers.
The programme is very well designed to give us apprentices lots of opportunity to do different training courses, I enjoy it for many reasons. Something i quite enjoy about it is that the apprentices get together quite often to do training courses together and when learning at university, this allows us to work together and teach each other about what weve learnt separately at Schneider Electric
The programme is very well structured, giving us the correct 20% allocated time for university studies within the working week, and allowing us the freedom to learn around qualified engineers.
I receive as much support as necessary, I find that when i am struggling with something either not having enough time, or understanding something, i am always given the opportunity and extra time to figure it out with help and pointers where necessary to help support me through any difficult tasks.
Lincoln University have sometimes been difficult to work with, due to this Schneider is no longer continuing with this University for further years ahead, but while i have been ive found people within the University i can contact when struggling and have been able to get the support needed when asked.
My qualification gets me an Integrated Engineering Control systems degree, as my role is control systems a lot of the information and modules can be used, or transferred over into my role helping me gain a greater understanding of how and what i do. Not everything corresponds but is always beneficial learning.
At Schneider Electric, as an apprentice or a graduate you are pushed towards DofE Gold as an extra curricular activity to do.
Yes
The support is always there when needed, I get incredible training at great training facilities, and get to socialize with like minded people my age. Also, for an apprenticeship the moneys pretty great, and rises exponentially each year till the end of the apprenticeship.
Apply early, contact often, keep your name on the top of their lists. If you get an interview, be yourself, be happy and forward speaking.
