  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role as an apprentice project manager involves scheduling project tasks and prioritising to ensure all deliverables are met. This can be arrange meetings, chairing gate reviews and providing reports to senior leadership team. Liasing with cross functional teams to deliver a product to market. I must control budget of the project to ensure profitability.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I am learning new skills everyday. I am much more confident in my public speaking and presenting abilities as I am presenting on a daily basis so my delivery of this becomes clearer each time with better levels of focus on the content. I've also improved my technical knowledge in the electrical heating domain.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my programme as it has enabled me to enter a field of work that I previously believed was out of reach as would require me to give up work to train whilst still having financial commitments to meet so doing the apprenticeship allows me to earn whilst learning and expand my knowledge and skills.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I have a consistent structure to my programme where i have a weekly day release on a Wednesday to attend university and be taught through face to face lectures and classroom sessions. This is bookended by days within work which allows me to implement my learning in to my day to day work.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I find that my employer and direct line manager to be extremely supportive of me and will always ask whether they can assist further in both my academic learning but also if i require any additional support when i'm on site working. Also the colleagues are very supportive and will set aside time to support and explain complex processes in a way a new person can understand.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training is provided through the University of Plymouth and they are extremely supportive of me when working towards my qualifications. I have regular check in sessions and also quarterly work place visit where they see if any further support is required but also to ensure synergy with my employer.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My training towards my qualifications supports me in understanding all the underpinning of the job role and all of the aspects that are required to perform my daily duties. It also allows me to have a reflective mindset to challenge and see if there are areas that can be improved.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • At work there and many professional networking opportunities both in person and virtual that all colleagues can be involved in to wider there personal networks and reach new connections. As an engineering teams we hold regular social events such as fun days go-karting or tree planting to support community initiatives

  • 9a. Would you recommend Schneider Electric to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Schneider has a large focus on sustainability and supporting end users to manage there electric and heating consumption which will ultimately save them money. They look to be innovative to support the ever growing customer requirements whilst ensuring the quality remains consistent. The culture is very supportive and inclusive so everyone feels valued in all teams.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Schneider Electric?
  • The biggest tip I would give to anyone looking to apply for a Schneider would be to go for it as it is a great company to work for which such a vast array of progression opportunities that are within reach for all. Be yourself as it is our own individual characters that create a great place to be.
