I support production by fixing there test and programming machines. The problems I encounter vary in size and time scale. I may come across a problem that will take me 5 minutes to solve and repair, and the next problem may take me 3 hours. That is the challenge. If i am not fixing problems on the shop floor I am carrying on with my other work, which may consist of making small pieces of equipment to use around the factory, validation of test equipment, TPMS, ongoing projects etc.
Yes I have learned a lot very quickly. I work in a fast paced environment so you have to pick up things quite fast. But a lot of the stuff I have learnt I have had to learn on the job. Which i think is a good way to learn as you are actually doing the work as well as learning at the same time.
I enjoy it very much as there is a lot of freedom and opportunities for me to learn and grow my career. I think it is only going to get better from where i am now. As sometimes my age plays a factor in what i can or cannot do. But apart from that I am enjoying it a lot and I am just taking everyday as it comes.
I think i have some structure explained to me. But im not entirely sure what is going to happen for the whole 4 years it lasts. I think for the first whole year i am sort of learning how everything works in all of the aspects of work. As i came straight from secondary school i think this process is important as it gives me a good understanding on how everything works. But i think after the first year i will start to specialise a bit more in the specific field I want to go into and applied for.
I receive as much support as I ask for. It is not a specific amount, I may get no support because i do not need it. But when I ask for help from anyone they are always willing to support me in whatever I am doing which is a good thing. But generally I know a lot of people are here to support me its just a case of me asking for it.
I receive a lot of support from my college lecturer. He has a good format of teaching and getting people to fully understand things. Also he is always willing to give me a hand or lead me in the right direction if I am unsure as to what I am doing.
I think that with this qualification it will give me the good knowledge and understanding of engineering as a whole. And will give me good technical knowledge regarding engineering in the future for when I am potentially fixing a machine, offering a second opinion, helping others out etc. It will really help me out fundamentally.
Yes i play for a 5-a-side football team. We play on a Monday and it is great fun to do something else other than work with my colleagues. It gives us something to talk about in the week and it is a great team building exercise. I think there is also a pilates class that goes on every week but i dont do that.
