As a Crew Trainer I am expected to assist the management team in running the restaurant. I train new crew, coach and train existing crew and run areas within the restaurant. I ensure that our goals are met daily and that procedures are followed at all times. I am an expert on all stations and lead by example.
I have learned so much about different leadership styles and how to apply them. I learned how we use labour projections and why we use them. Learning about different employee motivations helps me in how I lead and train people. I learned more about customer service skills and how to ensure that customers leave our restaurant satisfied.
My business manager let me lead my learning and gave me all resources I needed. He let me choose what I wanted to learn and gave me sufficient time off the floor for my learning. My mentor helped me by giving me ideas and keeping my head in the game as and when needed.
