I work in a class of 9 children with ASD at a Special Needs School as a Classroom Assistant. I support my students emotionally and academically, make resources and help tidy the classroom.
I have learnt Makaton and a lot about ASD and approaches.
I love my placement and this form of education helps me develop professionally and personally.
My assignments are well organised and structured and my meetings allow me to reflect on my learning.
My employer supported me amazingly when I transferred from an unsafe placement. They have offered their support throughout and made me confident in my apprenticeship.
We have monthly scheduled meetings and they always offer their help in-between with enthusiasm.
I learn more context and history behind my role and why I do certain things and how I can improve to be more effective in my role.
