I care for babies, toddlers and preschoolers in a nature based nursery. We try to have them outside as much as possible using natural resources - we do things like make fires and chop wood. Children are independent and resilient as they get so many enriching experiences throughout their time with us.
I've done both. I've learnt new skills like planning, allergies, first aid.. And I've developed my own personal existing skills such as how I interact with children and how to teach various age groups. I'm learning all the time with this apprenticeship and I'm grateful for the opportunity.
I really enjoy this programme, although it's sometimes hard to find the time with my busy family life. I find it very interesting, particularly safeguarding which I've just finished. It gives me confidence to know what I'm thinking is correct and factual. I do my study with my colleague sometimes which is actually really fun!
My tutor actually made it less complicated for me, as I was struggling to understand the system they use. It's now broken into manageable pieces and I can clearly see what I need to do now and next. This has been massively beneficial to me as I don't have time to struggle to understand what they're asking for.
My employer is very supportive. We don't get time to study in work itself though as there's just not enough staff for me to do that. My employer has provided us with an awesome lady to help though, and she is much appreciated by everyone. She is always there if needed.
Realise can be abit hard to get hold of. They're very busy people. My tutor is lovely though, and she will respond, just not as quick as I'd sometimes like. She's fab at explaining things though and rewording questions, and she breaks the units down for me.
I feel like this is a really worthwhile course which overall helps to increase confidence and knowledge within the workplace. It covers many different things, all of which are relevant to my work and it means I am secure in delivering the education we strive to provide to our children.
We do have social events in our workplace - things like bbqs, yoga etc. The next one is paddleboarding and kayaking! Recently we had a paint and wine afternoon which the ladies enjoyed. We don't have sports teams as we're active enough as it is with the little ones!
Yes
Really nice directors here. They have such a holistic, beautiful approach to learning. They support all staff to be the best they can be, and support training all staff members. They are fair, give good perks and care about everyone. Staff are lovely and check in with eachother, and our children are also lovely (bit biased lol)
Be honest, positive and really have a passion for educating under fives. That's really it! If you're a nice, genuine person who has patience and a sense of humour you will be fine and you'll fit right in. We'll help you adjust, it won't take long!
