Teaching assistant, working 1-1 with SEN children, teaching small groups of children, teaching phonics lessons, doing interventions, assisting the teacher, doing displays, using photocopier, being on play ground duty, working with external organisations to help different needs of SEN children, talking with parents about behaviour or concerns, using apps to record concerns.
I’ve learnt so much, and continue to learn. I’ve learnt lots about SEN, how to interact with children and how to change that depending on the child. I’ve learnt how to use schools apps, create nice displays, how to teach phonics, how to do interventions, use the photocopier.
The best thing I’ve ever done. I had a 10 year career doing something else, I took a huge pay cut when I started this career but I have no regrets I look forward to going to work everyday. The assignments are manageable and the tutor is very helpful.
It’s very organised it’s almost like a tick list of things I need to get done. My tutor is always on time to our team meetings. The assignments are very helpful and I learn a lot from completing them. The app is very helpful to see progress and see what is coming next.
I don’t receive support from my employer regarding my apprenticeship, they don’t have the staff to give me time to complete my assignments I do those at home. I get a lot of support for my roll I’m terms of training and advice.
My tutor is very helpful. She is always available on email to answer any questions, she gives me tips on how to make my assignments good. The app is very useful. The work load is very manageable and I don’t feel any pressure which is good as I have 2 young children.
Researching for the assignments gives me so much more knowledge for my job. For example behaviours and the curriculum, I get most of my knowledge from the apprenticeship and I put that into practice in my job role, using different teaching techniques and behaviours to appeal to different learning styles.
There is very little activities we do arrange gatherings for special occasions which I attend. I like not having the pressure of feeling I have to be involved in lots of activities because I have 2 small children which take up a lot of my time so have a more.
Yes
The trust is very keen on the work/life balance of its employees which is very important. They don’t put too much pressure of employees, everyone I work with is very happy in their job roll and feels they wouldn’t have the same experience at other schools. The staff are very friendly and approachable and there’s always training available to better yourself.
They would need to be passionate about working with children to give them the best education and school experience possible. The trust is very professional so knowing lots about safeguarding is important. They are very understanding with helpful, training courses are readily available to continue to better yourself. It’s a fast paced environment and very rewarding.
