I work with an amazing team of women within a great setting. I am located in the baby room but do offer a hand in the over 2’s room, when necessary. I enjoy coming up with curriculum based activities for the babies and providing them with a safe and fun place to learn and develop.
I have refreshed my knowledge on a lot of things having worked in childcare for over 12 years. I was a Nanny and worked in primary schools previously so very experienced with childcare and working with children in general but the EYFS is very new to me. I am enjoying learning new things though.
My tutor is lovely and very helpful. I have always been a keen learner so I’m enjoying all the resources we have access too, like Noodle Now. Tracking my progress through journal writing is great for me too to help see where I’ve improved/ have room for improvement.
It is all very easy to understand and access. The webinars have been really informative so far and there’s always someone I can reach to if I need to ask questions. I have found it all really straight forward so far and already feel more confident with things like journal writing.
My employer is amazing and extremely supportive. She is always there if I need guidance with anything and is forever praising me for the work I do. She has made me feel so welcome from day one and checks in constantly to see how I am doing outside of work too.
So far I haven’t had to reach out for any support but I am confident support is always at hand - an email away if needed. I am often receiving suggestions from my tutor of articles to read for me to write a journal entry about and that is really helpful.
Having more of an insight and knowledge to how a child develops and what factors play a part in it all help me assess a child’s individual needs more thoroughly. Having more of an understanding of the EYFS also helps me come up with more curriculum based activities for the little ones.
We occasionally go out for a team night out - for a meal or bowling. It is lovely to socialise outside of work. We also have our monthly staff meeting, which consists of staff training or team building activities. Our next one will be a day of re-vamping the nursery garden. Lots of painting and DIY to be done.

I have never felt more at home in such a short time. All the girls I work with are lovely and we are like a family. We can talk about anything and work so well as a team - supporting each other, suggesting work based ideas to one another throughout the day. I can’t fault the nursery at all.
Be sure to find time each week to commit to the coursework. Buy yourself a notebook to have at work to jot down ideas for your journal entries. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and just enjoy the learning journey. It can seem a bit overwhelming at first but all worth it in the long run!
