Junior Software Engineer that specialises in Oracle RedStack Support for the HRMS Suite of Packages. Day to day work involves dealing with client's issues from both a functional and technical perspective and providing appropriate fixes and resolutions; both in code and workarounds.
I have developed extensive capability in coding PL\SQL, Java and UNIX packages as well as maintaining and improving Oracle's eBusiness Suite of Applications. I have also strengthened my team-working, communication and professionalism.
There is no question in regards to the satisfaction I gain from doing my role. This is eveident in the consistent and constant high quality of my work as well as my integration within my project team. This has enabled me to take on a wide range of activities both within and outside of my project and establish a reputation of delivery in whatever I am tasked with.
Capgemin has given me the chance to succeed and to demonstrate this by putting me forward for several national awards (coming 2nd overall in my most recent award event). My contributions to Capgemini are recognised by both my immediate management and support staff from the Apprenticeship and Graduate team.
The transition from outside world to the corporate environment of Capgemini (illustrated by its 7 values) is managed effectively and concisely. The addition of Apprenticeship studies is managed and coached in a nurturing and safe environment. The transition from Apprenticeship to Degree is extremely well facilitated given the number of organisations involved in the overall process. Transitions have been seamless in nature whilst keeping all informed as to their individual placement along the process and next step actions required by both parties are clearly communicated.
During Apprenticeship, curricular and extra curricular support is readily available (to engage with such support is actively encouraged by both my employer and training provider). Assessor has always responded within 3 hours of mail or text and employer's staff similarly.
As stated previously, support from employer is readily available and to engage in such is encouraged if you feel there is a need for it. I have no complaints with this as I know myself have had to use this, especially in my early stages of employment in order to help me to succeed in my environment.
Salary far exceeds my basic living costs and enables me to save for the future whilst having annual holidays and weekends away. For an Apprenticeship scheme this is a significant achievement. I havent heard of anything similar to it yet.
Yes, I have become involved in organising the Voluntary participation and resourcing of such for the office I work in. I have fostered relations with local education authorities and organisations in order to promote the idea of Apprenticeships as a viable opportunity. This started on my own initiative but with my network of contacts within Capgemini, has enabled me to grow this for the Mancheste area. I also fundraise and partake in my own initiatives, of which I can rely on the support and experience of Capgemini to make them a success.
Yes
Capgemini has given me the best possible start to my career given my turbulent and fragmented history prior to joining. The support and dedication of the staff supporting the GAP Programme is second to none and the pathway to succeeding is defined from Day 1. If IT is your dream , Capgemini is the answer.
Research the companies values and explain how you have demonstrated these in challenging situations in your own life. Above all, know a bit about the industrial vendors which supply all IT organisations and some of the general strengths of each major party (Oracle, SAP, IBM etc).
