  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work for a big growing company in a nursery where we help children grow, thrive and develop through play and interaction, most of all to be themselves and be great role models for them. We help children to learn about the world around them and teach them the skills they need for everyday life.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I now know all about safeguarding, British Values, FGM, whistleblowing, security, cultural capital and special educational needs and disabilities. I have learned a lot over my apprenticeship regarding children and how they develop and the different ways they learn or the different types of experiences they may have. I have attended meetings like 'birth to 5 matters' with my work team too.

  • I did enjoy my apprenticeship and my tutor too. I am very happy to have finally completed my apprenticeship, I'm glad to see all the work I put in has paid off and got me where I wanted to be. This is a great company for apprenticeships.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It was very well structured with set work, activities and off the job coursework to complete over a set time but tutors are patient and understanding, also more work will be set if you finish early just ask for more. Very supportive and friendly tutor too.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I do recieve support from my manager but the company we have not long been taken over by as a whole so far, I feel like I'm just a number to them unfortunately. My family, manager, work colleagues and tutor have been very supportive over my apprenticeship and have helped push me to get here.
