In this new role I was given after the successful completion of my apprenticeship I manage and am responsible for the use of DNA products for Unilever as a whole. I currently ensure that these products are refreshed and maintained in good order and account for any issues with the data or pages.
I have both learned and developed my skills in communicating with different types of stakeholders. When managing different products of DNA, I had to be able to deal with questions from different areas of the business and would provide assistance if I could and if unable to would then point them in the right direction.
I have enjoyed my time so far at Unilever as I have had the pleasure of both working in the FET team and the DNA team. Although I was positioned in the FET team, I was able to be transferred to the DNA team and able to gain valuable experience there.
Initially, the first few months were very structured and had monthly learning boot camps on various applications such as Excel, power bi, and Python. Along with this would have monthly one to one sessions with my multiverse coach to track my progress. Then the second year was much more independent with my portfolio.
Manpower offers a good amount of support as before I had even enrolled on my first day I had a few calls with the Manpower team regarding any questions I had a provided good detail as to what I should expect to get out of my time at Unilever and what could progress.
Multiverse provided me with as much support as they could to me. Multiverse has a vast community and therefore good opportunity to network with fellow and former apprentices, meaning that I could then understand from their experience what they find challenging and what I should do to improve my understanding of this.
My qualification definitely adds additional evidence to my experience that I show a great understanding of DNA. Furthermore, not only did the certification provide this but along the way by actually having to practice and explain what I had done cemented into myself this and was actually useful knowing I had done this work.
In my first year at Unilever, I had to undertake onboarding the next cohort of IP students. In this task, I arranged social events for them which ranged from coffee catch ups and a physical event of Junkyard Golf and has to ensure this ran smoothly. Also, would help them with general questions they might have.
Yes
Unilever has allowed me to peruse my career in Data and work in the finance industry at the same time. Not only have I been able to gain qualifications and experience at the same time. I have been shocked at how responsible the tasks I have been given and pleased at how trusted I have been with them.
I think it is essential to act as if the interview is not a test but an opportunity to show off your knowledge and impress the interviewers. Do some background research on the company and if possible to incorporate it in your answers this would really showcase your eagerness to be employed.
