In my current role I manage the production of a set of international exam papers. This includes contracting external associates, creating item/topic templates, managing the large numbers of items that move through a database and creating exam forms.
I have developed many skills though the apprenticeship such as; leadership, communication, time keeping and people management
I have enjoyed the apprenticeship as I have had to branch out of my original job role to make connections with different people and I have also been able to experience different areas of the company.
The apprenticeship has been 20% off the job for the full 3 years. This means that I have attended lectures or studied on the Friday each week while working full time the remaining 4 days a week. The lectures were well planned and engaging.
Though my apprenticeship I struggled to receive support from my employer as there was a lot of restructure and moving teams/ management. Towards the end of the apprentice I was given much more support which allowed me to feel comfortable with what I was doing.
All of the lecturers and staff have been extremely helpful and made themselves available whenever there were concerns or questions regarding the course.
I have grown as a person through the apprenticeship and learning throughout the course has made me feel more confident in certain aspects, such as with leading teams, delegating work and managing external associates.
For my workplace there is always something interesting going on! We have just had learning at work week which enables employees to attend events which help to develop skills and open opportunities for career growth
Yes
Although the experience has been tough, having to mange a full time job as well as a full time education, it has been an amazing experience and I have learned so much while simultaneously being able to implement it in the workplace.
Make sure you read the course material when it is set! Don't fall behind as it can be difficult to catch up and keep on top of recording everything when you are off the job (keep a register, documents and any extra curricular activities)
