I am a HR Apprentice in the Business Partnering team. Every day is unique. I am involved in various projects and activities across HR including business change, diversity and inclusion, employee relations , engagement. Each enabling me to learn and utilise different skills and experience.
I've learnt lots of new skills. I've enhanced my personal skills such as relationship management, confidence and resilience in dealing with difficult situations, and project management skills to ensure key projects are delivered effectively. I've enhanced my technical knowledge and skills including employment law.
The programme at BPP is very varied with modules which are relevant to my day job. I enjoy the additional learning and research side required for assignments
My programme is structured in a logical manner with clear timelines of when assignments are due, which is great to be able to be prepared to make sure deadlines can be achieved . However, sometimes the deadlines between one assignment and the next can be very short.
Everyone at IM is so supportive, and always willing to offer me support and advice. I am given the opportunity to take my apprenticeship learning and put it into practice.
My apprenticeship coach is really friendly and helpful for when I have any questions.
I learn the theory and I am given the opportunity to put it into practice. I have understanding of legal implications, best practice of what other organisations and research suggests it, and I'm able to use this in my day job to inform my approach and decisions
I think there are especially for those in legal areas. Our team are making more of an effort to do activities together as a team.
Yes
Irwin Mitchell has been so supportive to me, given me so many opportunities I didn't think I would get, and genuinely care about career development. People are always willing to help, and make me feel valued
Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, be good at communicating and research the company well. Don't be afraid to ask questions during the process if you are unsure and be willing to learn.
