On a day to day basis, I will be reviewing drawings, creating drawings and interacting with the engineers regarding projects that I am part of. 3D modelling is also part of my day to day, creating parts and assemblies for a variety of models that can be used as a stand alone or in larger assemblies.
I've learnt many new skills including PCB design, both 3D and 2D. I know how to build an assembly from scratch and create a bill of materials from it. I have learnt how to write professional reports from my college courses that i can incorporate into my working day to day.
I really enjoy my day to day working as well as the programme I have undertaken. I enjoy the challenging work I complete and the team I am part of. The learning programme is also engaging, allowing me to learn new skills that I can then put to use in my normal job.
The programme is structured very well with allowances to complete college work and training courses already put aside for us. The course is structured so that the work relates to that which will be required for the job role which allows the knowledge to be put into practice when returning to the office.
i receive all of the support I require from the employer, whether this be support from my working team or from the learning and development team. The company has supported me to push for further learning after the completion of my apprenticeship programme. The support that is offered is both corporate and educational.
The training provider also offers all the required support for completing the qualifications and has also offered the opportunities during development/enrichment weeks to pick up other qualifications that may help us in the future such as management courses. The support is there not only from the lecturers but also from other staff around the college.
The qualification definitely helps the performance in my job role as the type of things that are learnt directly relate to the work that I am completing when back in the office. The work is not only engaging but makes me feel more confident when undertaking certain tasks when asked to by my manager.
Sometimes, there was a group of apprentices that went out to play badminton after work on a Friday afternoon that I was involved in. There are also events such as curry nights that we as a team regularly have as well as a full office curry night that happens a few times as year.
