I work every day as an audit associate working in the audit department. Generally day to day I complete various areas of testing for our clients such fixed asset verification, creditor balances, debtor balances, and reconciling cash balances to company bank statements. I work with colleagues from different ages and experiences
Yes - I have learnt several new skills that I did not possess before joining. I developed my technical ability in the work I am completing, doing the nuts and bolts of audit work, and have supplemented this via my college work. I have also developed my listening and communication skills by speaking with finance staff
This is a truly great programme to be a part of. With my intake and with some f the older intakes, we do various socials where we all get together every couple of weeks and we also have office based and in the city socials. In addition to this we are given several corporate and social responsibility days to use.
It is very well structured - gaining a balance between office work, client visits and the necessary college study towards a qualification. We have set days going to college as well as allocated training days in order to complete all the training needed. There is also in house audit training plus online learning to pass.
First and foremost I get well paid I think for the work done! I would also draw attention to the non finnacial support you get via internal networks and groups for support and guidance. We are assigned a performance manager and a buddy and they are a great help too. The department is great also in terms of taking time to complete my studies and helping answer my questions, be they work or study related.
I think this question related to our partnership with BPP training provider. We get regular tuition, revision phases in college and mock exams and regular tests, and all the materials we need to help pass. We have access to the hub too which is a great resource to help progress also.
The BPP training helps me pass exams and this is essential to doing my job, and performing at the required industry standard. The exams I am currently completing help me to perform better in my role as they are quite relevant to audit. I have taken an audit exam which involves a lot of the procedures and risk assessment and there are other key areas related to IFRS which are imperative to the work.
Yes there is a Chartered Accountants Students Society that arranges events and there are get togethers with the other apprentices from around the offices every year, which is a great way to reconnect and chat. There are also regular socials in the local office every couple of months which are well attended and free
Yes
I would recommend KPMG to a friend because my experience here has been really great so far. I feel as though I have learnt a lot and I am supported in my role, which is important as the college exams can be arduous and difficult to pass, and there is a lot of support however to get you through the hard times.
I would say be prepared to be asked why you want to join KPMG and what makes it stand out from the crowd, as there are other similar firms with offerings like this. So know your stuff and prepare. Looking over the reviews here is a great start as it shows what life really is like, in house.
