My role as a supervisor at Iceland retail food supermarket is to ensure the store is where it should be, the staff should be where they need to be and there roles and responsibilities are being met. From opening the store to closing in the afternoon, both equally important always.
I have been learning every day from the day I started at Iceland. I could and everyone can speak to another person, but learning the skill to adapt to situations or different types of people is a skill you learn and use each day in this role at Iceland retail.
What I enjoy most about the program is the different perspectives and ideas it brings to my role in the job. Things I wouldn’t think I should use or I would see day to day they help you to use-work on to get the most out of you there.
I find the program to be structured in a way I never have to ask where I’m at or what’s next, it’s helpful and helps you to be independent whilst doing it. sometimes, working doing something like this you need that to be organised this type away
It’s hard to to expect 100% report from an employer whilst doing this program as they don’t sign on to be your personal coach so helping when they can is much appreciated as you know they give what they can when they can and it means more really.
My training provider is always 100% there when I need it and know I can count on her to help me. That for me is a big part of why I want to continue on and do better knowing they want me to succeed and believe in me to aswell.
I Think it’s helped me believe in my self more than I did before hand. It becomes more of a role in work and more of something to be proud of and embrace what you do into your character, from the way I speak to other to extensive knowledge.
In my work and community we do not have social activities, sports teams or networking events. I think this depends on the team and the area of your job is based. Ranging from the ages in your job to. The job roles in my work place are not full contracts.
Yes
I recommend Iceland to others because it suits anyone. Short shifts, longer shifts and any time or day of the week that suits them. You can start from the bottom but also work your way up and build a career if that’s what your looking for. Suits everyone here.
I would advice anyone wanting to work for Iceland to take each day as it comes. The job is very straight forward and the team is there to help your a community. The people will becomes family and the job will become second nature. Get ready to talk and work!
