Preparing VAT returns and other indirect tax returns for a variety of clients. This involves using excel and other microsoft software packages, as well as in-house developed software.
Developed my IT Skills and interpersonal skills. My job has greatly increased my confidence, as well as my technical knowledge in tax/accounting.
Some of the work can be a bit repetitive, but there are opportunities to be involved in different lines of work, plus we have qualifications to study for. The team are all very supportive and sociable, so we all have a good time.
I feel very valued by PwC, there are so many people that I can turn for help, and everyone's willing to help me and wants me to succeed.
The programme is well organised and structured, we study for a qualification in tax compliance as well as collecting work based evidence. Some of the apprenticeship work overlaps a bit with our internal appraisal system though.
We receive a good amount of support from our Assessor, and from the tutors who teach us for our tax qualification. For this qualification, we have to take two computer based exams in law and ethics and I feel that we don't get enough support with these.
Again, there is a lot of support from PwC, we all have a 'People Manager,' who is someone we can turn to for any support and discuss our careers. We also have a 'Buddy' who is usually someone who has joined quite recently, so they know what you are going through, which is very helpful.
The pay is good, I have to pay quite a lot for my travel as I commute quite far.
Yes, I have been involved in sporting events, we have a budget for social events and I socialise with some of the members of my team quite regularly.

Good place to work with supportive people and a chance to gain good qualifications. Rewards talent and hard work, and is a great place to start your career.
Make sure you are able to talk about plenty of teamwork experiences in the interviews, whether this is from previous jobs or from sports teams. Also ensure that you follow the news and have plenty of commercial awareness.
