My daily role involved directing complaints and queries from parents and outside stakeholders, answering telephone calls and emails, signing children in and out of school when leaving for medical appointments and similar. I also approached my colleagues within the office on a regular basis to offer my support and reduce their workloads.
Since the beginning of my apprenticeship, I have learned how to communicate in a professional manner and change my tone of voice and language applicable to whoever I was speaking to. I have also begun working with the children on a one to one basis so gained a further understanding of additional needs due to my workplace environment and the role the office plays in getting children into school every morning.
I thoroughly enjoyed my programme and learned a lot of valuable information from my tutor, she was highly experienced within her role and was always on hand to support me and provide advise when I needed her. The skills I learned are now transferrable to other job roles and will be a valuable qualification in my career journeys.
I believe the course I attended was very well structured, in that several modules were taught at the same time so I can learn things which were similar so I didn't end up repeating myself when learning. All coursework was clearly explained and the worksheets were very easy to understand.
I received very regular support from my tutor, she was always on the other end of an email or telephone call if I needed support or advice, I also had the opportunity to book in Zoom calls with her if I wanted extra help with work. She was also very aware of any safeguarding concerns.
As previously mentioned, my training provider were always reaching out to ensure everything was running smoothly regarding my apprenticeship, support was always available via email or telephone calls to head office who would direct me to the appropriate person. They were excellent with handling my stress and anxiety levels surrounding the end point assessment.
Before my business administration apprenticeship, I had some difficulties with using a professional tone of voice to people of authority such as management and stakeholders (but I didn't know what that meant prior to this role!) So i have learned that, alongside email and telephone etiquette for business calls.
We are greatly encourage to develop our social skills and friendships with our fellow colleagues, and this is done as a bare minimum, one social night at the end of each half term, where both the infant and the junior schools go out for dinner with each other and catch up.
Yes
The school have been completely supportive of my apprenticeship, from giving me ample time to complete coursework and revision for exams, to teaching me information for particular modules such as the finance and HR aspect. Furthermore, they have been emotionally supportive and make sure that my mental health is a priority and offering guidance if I was struggling in any way.
I would say go for it! The staff and students are absolutely one of a kind and I will miss every single person I have met through this role when my contract does eventually end. They create a fun work environment that people actually want to be in, and children are excited to come in to school every day.
