I have been involved in the HR department, creating quizzes around menopause and an introduction to the company for people who have just started the company. I joined in on their UK intern day, where I got an insight into what it was like to be an intern at Pearson. I had meetings with employees from their Marketing and Geography departments which gave me an understanding of what it was like to work at Pearson in their respective departments.
Through joining in their National Intern day I was able to develop my teamwork skills, through team challenges, and listening skills from a BeInspired talk which informed me of how important a strong personal brand is and how to set one up. It also promoted networking which was new to me and helped me develop this skill during me time at Pearson. Throughout my time I was set projects which had to be completed by the end of my time at Pearson which developed my time management and organisation skills.
The work experience at Pearson throughout was an enjoyable and informative experience. It helped me experience for the first time what an office environment was like as well as the different dynamics of a workplace was. A meeting which their Geography Subject Advisor was set up, which was a great experience and insight into a possible job in the field of Geography could be like which was perfect for someone like myself who is interested in a career in Geography.
It was week of perfectly organised work experience. From the first day where we were shown our calendar which was full of a variety of different projects, shadowing meetings and insightful talks. I was given the right amount of time to complete each project and the days were planned out to ensure I was not overloaded with an amount of work.
Throughout the week I was shown and informed about all the varies aspects of the company and what it would be like to work in them. This was made even clearer through personal meetings with employees from their Marketing and Geography departments which can an even deeper look into what it would be like to work at Pearson and in their departments.
The work experience at Pearson gave a rough idea on helping me decide my future career path. Through following the days and shadowing some meetings of senior employees in their HR department, as well as, having personal meetings with people from Pearson's Marketing and Geography department which was very helpful. Perhaps if I had more time it would have been even more helpful to shadow the days of a few more departments where I may perhaps be thinking of working in.
This work at experience for a week at Pearson PLC, was an unpaid work experience. However, my lunches were paid for which was a great gesture by Pearson for this week. As well as the Golden Assessment was provided free of charge by Pearson which was extremely valuable for me to understand my personality and therefore perhaps what work environment I would strive in.
During the week of my work experience at Pearson I was provided with numerous opportunities for networking and meeting other employees. I was fortunate enough to be able to join their National Intern Day which was a huge opportunity for networking with a vast variety of interns. I was also provided with personal meeting with employees from different departments such as marketing.
Yes
While on being at Pearson for a week for work experience I was provided with a huge amount of chances and exposed to new opportunities. I was also able, for the first time, to experience what an office environment was like and the different dynamics that take place in an office. Pearson's office was a modern office which is a great environment to learn and progress in.
Pearson is a create company which has an environment help an individual develop many crucial skills which they will need in a career such as; time management, organisation and networking. Pearson can also provide a valuable insight into how a large cooperation runs day to day and what is required of its employees.
