My job role involves upholding the accounting standards of ifrs and icaew, to ensure accounting standards are met when analyzing companies accounts. We test to ensure no material errors have been produced and to allow for users of the financial statements to have a true and fair view of the accounts.
I have developed my excel skills from what i previously knew from completing the ECDL course within school. Also my communication and management skills have been increased through interactions with the team and coaching. In addition i used aura which i did not know how to use prior to this placement.
I really enjoyed the programme as it allowed me to learn a lot and gain on the job experience which is rare to find now and is what employers are after when hiring graduates after university. Also a good team connection helped me enjoy my job role more than without this bonding.
The course is extremely well structured with emails and talks always being given informing you of the tasks you need to complete and the deadlines for these tasks. Also the university part of the degree is well scheduled as they provide some semester 2 content within semester one to give you greater time to prepare.
I receive some support from my employer such as additional payments for the cost of living crisis which we are currently experiencing in the uk. Also i get paid for the overtime i work whereas majority of people within the company do not which is an added benefit i got.
I gain some support from icaew when completing the exams, being given some exam preparations and tips via their email services however the main support is from the university and i do feel like icaew could give us some extra support through additional revision classes or additional text books handed out.
My qualification allows me to have a deeper understanding of complex ideas and processes within the area of accounting. This information can then be applied when i am conversing with different business units and clients allowing for a swift and more efficient audit. Without this understanding i would find it difficult.
There are a wide array of extra curricular activities to get involved in at work whether it is football, a bake sale or even leaving or end of months drinks. This allows you to get to know the people on your team and in the office better meaning you work better together.
Yes
I would recommend pwc to a friend as the company as they award a good wage for the job i complete at my level. Also they have a nice office space with friendly staff and solid amenities. Alo pwc offers lots of social events which you can get involved in.
The people applying to join pwc need to be able to communicate their ideas well with good accounting knowledge and teamwork. They need to ensure that they are fast learners and can help other people learn things they have only been taught once themselves to allow for quick progress of the team.
