I am currently developing a web application with another apprentice for the Ministry of Justice. My daily tasks starts off with me spending some time researching ways in which we can improve and refactor our code. I have a daily call with the other apprentice to assess where we are and where we want to be with the application then continue to code. I often speak with other apprentices and people in the MoJ room.
I have learnt a LOT about C# and SQL with the training courses provided by QA. These skills have been transferable to the work place, and have been further developed at work. I have developed professional skills as I attend many meetings.
I enjoy the work I am doing, as it is interesting and provides a lot of responsibilities.
I feel like a valuable member of CGI. The Web application i am developing is important.
Training is very organised, However The support outside of training can be improved.
I receive a lot of support from QA.
People manager attends all of our assessment meeting with training provider, and I feel I can discuss any problems I encounter.
Not the best. I have to travel from london to reading most days and pay out of my pocket. Coupled with my living costs this leaves me with very little money for social activities with my friends outside of working hours.
There are many opportunities.
Yes
I feel a sense of security working at CGI, and i'm developing many skills, and provided training and qualifications.
Research the company, know exactly why you want the apprenticeship, and dont feel shy to express yourself in the assessment process.
