My work experience involved the practice of legal drafting; allowing me to gain a feel of what it would be like as a trainee at Pinsent Masons. I also really enjoyed learning CV tips as they were very helpful, and meeting people who worked for the firm, giving us advice.
I gained drafting training and skills that would potentially be required from a Pinsent Masons trainee, which helped me expand my legal knowledge by a large amount. I was able to network with other people, enhancing my communication skills and there were many opportunities to ask questions if it was needed.
I enjoyed my work experience a lot! I particularly enjoyed doing the drafting as it made me feel as though I gained an insight into my law career already, which majorly helped me decide if I want to continue a path down legislation or not. I also enjoyed the slideshows. However, I think if there were more project / research time to feedback to the team, it would have been even more enjoyable and would have gained my 10/10 stars.
I feel as though it was organised very well. Rachel answered my emails quickly, which was very helpful. I also feel as though the timetable was fairly set, with a good amount of breaks within each time. There were very helpful supervisors too, who were able to provide support to anyone who needed it.
I learnt a lot about the company culture which really appealed to me. As I am from South Asian heritage, the South Asian inclusion network seemed to be very interesting. I also enjoyed the virtual office tour on the resources. Before, I wasn't sure if I wanted to work with Pinsent Masons as I hadn't done as much research as I had for other law firms. However, after experiencing the work experience they are definetly one of my law firm options which I would love to work with.
It helped me a lot. I feel as though I was able to gain a wide variety of opinion and experiences from the different staff working with Pinsent Masons, and I gained a deep insight as to why people would want to work with Pinsent Masons. Overall, it helped me decide that I do want to continue down my career route of becoming a lawyer. It was highly informative.
No, I was not.
There were plenty of opportunities to network and meet other employees, especially as the timetabled sessions would include different employees that work with Pinsent Masons which genuinely helped as there were all not from one location, but different ones like Scotland and England. It helped me to gain an insight from different perspectives.
Yes
There were plenty of opportunities to do, and when there wasn't a task to do even talking with the employees became very helpful as they were open and friendly with lots of questions, which they answered well and in depth. There were lots of resources which were very helpful too.
I would advise others to make sure that they do not miss any sessions as they are all equally important. Even though the sessions are available to access afterwards, it was much more helpful to be in the live session where help was always at hand, and other students were there whom you could network with.
