My day to day role involves me managing are storage facility, organise material requirements on site and ensuring that we have enough material to ensure the works onsite coincide with the programmed works
During my time I have been able to gain key management skills, site supervision skills.
The programme overall is well structured and provides the opportunity of continuous progression.
I feel on my project I have been given the opportunity to progress, and gain knowledge in various aspects, I feel that Costain continuously support me and provide me with opportunities for progression. The programme personally has enabled me to have interaction with very experienced personnel who have enabled me to develop my own knowledge and skills.
the programme is structured well, some areas could be looked into in terms of management of works requirements and college requirements but as a whole the course is structured in manner which is clear in regards to establishing requirements.
The level of support is suitable for enablling progression of the course.
I feel management at work support me in terms of my working requirements. However further interaction could be made to ensure college requirements are met and to have regular updates in regards to progression. However this can be difficult due to work restriction and day to day requirements.
The salery provided is higher then many other apprentice wages, and is enough to live of taking into consideration that student fees are paid for my the employer.
in terms of promating the costain apprenticeship scheme I have been provided with many opportunities to do this, specially in regards to engagment with students who may not be aware of the requirements of the apprenticeship programme.
Yes
I feel Costain provide a very good apprenticeship overall with a rating of 8.5 out of 10. Te knowledge I have gained through the apprenticeship programme has been brilliant and is the basis on which I will advise anyone to look into an apprenticeship programme with Costain.
Anyone applying for the programme should have a interest in the construction / engineering sector, but should also have a open mind due to the opportunities present outside this specific field.
