My job role is yard sales assistant and this roles involves working in the yard at Travis Perkins. On a day to day basis i will server customers using the pod and have a general potter around to maintain the cleanliness of the yard. I have also been brought into the shop to work on my counter sales.
during this apprenticeship course i have learnt a variety of thing. These thing include the leaning of stock levels, maintaining cleanliness of the yard, ordering stock, customer service from outside in the yard through to the counter sales of the customer and all the sections for a counter sales roles withing the company.
During this programme i have thoroughly enjoyed and not enjoyed aspects of the course. The parts of the course that i have enjoyed are the counter sales side of the roles and some driving that i have done as part of my job role. The part of the job role i dislike is the paperwork side.
The apprenticeship programme is well structured and organised from the beginning to the end.All the different topics all have different sections which are labelled with each task that is to be done. The end point of the coarse was also structured with what i needed to do on the day.
During my apprenticeship programme i have had a lot of support and encouragement from my branch manager and my assistant branch manager. They gave my their time to take me through different aspects of the job role that i needed to lean and was always there if i needed a talk.
The support i received from my apprenticeship coach during my course was really good and well received. I had his phone number and email in case i needed anything to ask. And when i asked a question through email it was never long before i got my answer. He was very helpful indeed.
I feel that my qualification through my training provider helped me to perform better in my role by giving me the learning and resources i needed to get to the point i want to be in my career. The course i did managed to get me an opportunity in the shop so i can lean that aspect of the job.
The extra-curricular activities to get involved in at my work involves a number of sports days out that the branch members can take part in. Also since we are just a small team we all go for work meals and take the time to go out in our spare time with each other.
Yes
The reasons i would recommend Travis Perkins plc to a friend are that the benefits of working withing a team are really good. The managers that i have dealt with are really nice and helpful withing the business. Its a friendly and inviting place to work and have a good career opportunity.
The advice i would give to anybody that wants to work at Travis Perkins is to be yourself and just crack on to the best of your ability. The way you work will determine how far you will get in the business and to where you want to be in Travis Perkins.
