  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • To produce data sets for my project team so they can present them to the client and increase their level of satisfaction is my current duty at the company. I have been able to learn through the many test methods (biochemical and enzyme assays), data analysis of my plate readouts, lab notebook reports, and project meetings, among other everyday tasks. This varies per department depending on where you are in the corporate rotation.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I came not from a scientific background, therefore throughout my first year of analytics studies, I learnt all the core skills I needed to finish any work. Some of these traits are pipetting, time management, communication, and position-appropriate abilities. In the Biology department, where I spent my second year, I developed more technical skills including test techniques for multiple projects. I created them using the abilities I developed while doing analytics work. I have also learnt how to employ contemporary tools and machines to aid me in my work and save money.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have undeniably loved the programme because it has given me the opportunity to work with industry professionals and because it has given me real-world experience. My coworkers are always willing to help me out with anything I am struggling with, and the workplace atmosphere is really accepting. The given university course is intriguing and covers a wide range of topics, including those that are relevant to both biology and chemistry. Because the course is relatively easy to follow, you can improve your skills without feeling overwhelmed.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Being a part of this curriculum, I have discovered, is quite organised since you always know what to do next and what is expected of you. You have the opportunity to raise questions and gain clarity on specific tasks you are expected to complete at regular one-on-one sessions with your manager and mentor. Safety inductions and training plans are established at the start of the apprenticeship to keep track of your development and make sure you receive the appropriate instruction.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • As was already mentioned in the previous inquiries, both the mentors and managers of the scheme offer a significant amount of the required assistance. There is never a foolish question to ask them, in my opinion, because they are always eager to help you. They will always direct you in the right direction if they are unable to personally help you so you can seek support. They also keep up with your academic work, which helps them understand your workload and keep an eye out for any issues you might be experiencing.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The University supports us with a similar mindset while we finish our online coursework and modules When you need assistance understanding the subject, you can speak with the the college point of contact and the module convenors. They are really good in explaining topics, which allows you to advance and perform well on exams.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The certification, in my opinion, provides us with the underlying knowledge and comprehension necessary to understand our analyses and roles within the business. Just two examples of the things we study in the degree that are relevant to the work we conduct every day include enzyme assays and the effect of enzymes on inhibition. This has been useful for me as I take on the responsibilities of a weekly chemical screen that makes use of many enzymes.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I have been lucky enough to take part in a range of activities, such as the apprentice journal club, badminton at lunch, company provided training courses, and poster sessions that allowed me to present to a bigger audience. The company offers additional opportunities through volunteer charity days and stem activities. great place

  • 9a. Would you recommend Labcorp to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Charles River is a really helpful company that provides fantastic training. Additionally, they help you integrate into the wider group and learn how the industry operates as a whole to achieve a goal. Along with offering a wide range of possibilities and the chance to obtain real-world experience, they also provide courses that are both interesting and engaging.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Labcorp?
  • I would make sure to express my enthusiasm for the professional path it offers while also coming across as self-assured and passionate if I were to reapply to Charles River. I would also ask more questions about any activities I might take part in, but my main goal would be to find out about the experiences of previous apprentices.
