I work in a Secondary School as a support staff. I work in reception covering the reception area. This role involves answering the telephone, greeting visitors and giving visitors a pass after they sign in, answering queries from parents in reception or over the telephone. I listen to voicemails via a headset of absence reported by pupils parents. I update the communication log and the register on the school system. I also work in the administration office where I deal with queries from pupils. I administer medication to pupils and log in the medication folder. I sell equipment and school polo shirts/ties to pupils. I work with the pastoral team. I go on home visits and do one-to-one meetings with pupils on low attendance. I write fast track letters for the attendance officer.
I have learnt to use a photocopier to print booklets in different sizes. I have developed more skills in Excel when pulling data for attendance. I have developed my skills in Word when writing letters using mail merge. I have grown in confidence when dealing with queries over the telephone.
I enjoy learning new skills and gaining knowledge in customer service. I am able to use my knowledge in my role dealing with parents and other stakeholders. I am also able to use my knowledge and skills when I am doing one-to-one meetings with pupils who are on low attendance.
My programme is very well organised and structured. I am receiving support from my employer Inspire ATA and training provider LMP Education on a regular basis. They are both very understanding and supportive of my needs. I do not think I could have continued with the Apprenticeship without their support.
I regularly receive support from my employer Inspire ATA. They are a phone call away if I need them. Inspire ATA check in with me once a month to see if everything is going well and if I need any further support with anything. If I have any concerns I feel comfortable enough to raise this with them.
I receive regular support from my training provider LMP Education. I have Assessment reviews once a month with my training provider. They go through the work that needs to be done to complete the criteria required for the Apprenticeship. We work through the criteria together and I complete the task set for the Assessment.
The knowledge and skills I gain from my training helps me perform better in my role. I can use the knowledge and skills in different parts of my job role as my role varies. I have developed my skills and grown in confidence significantly. I am surprised at this myself.
The school was involved with going for walks for charity which I was involved with. The school hold masses and services which I join in with. The school had witness week where they have different activities for pupils and staff to get involved in. I got involved with some activities.

Inspire ATA have been professional and supportive right from the beginning from going for the interview for the job role to now. I am a mature student who has not been at work for over 13 years. I have a family to look after. I was apprehensive when I applied for the apprenticeship. Inspire ATA and LMP Education have made my journey back to work so pleasant and enjoyable.
I would advise others applying to Inspire ATA Ltd to go for it! They are very professional and supportive. They are also very kind and easy to get on with. They are approachable and the best in the game in my opinion. I could not have continued my Apprenticeship without their support.
