My role at this apprenticeship is to assist my mentor with any of the job they have been tasked to do. From this I gain a lot of experience with being out on site and filing paperwork. Once I felt more confident about what I was doing I could go out perform the task by myself which feels good. This can include the use of advance technical surveying equipment. I will often talk to lots of different people in different areas of the site and ask them on what is going on in that particular area to broaden my knowledge of the project.
I have learnt plenty of new skills working with Costain. They have allowed me to take on many training courses that teach me how to use the equipment correctly and effectively. It has also improved my confidence in knowing what I am doing without worrying about getting it wrong.
I am really enjoying the programme as there is so much too see and do on site. Everybody is nice to work with making it a friendly environment and generally the work can feel quite rewarding.
I do feel part of a team here at Costain as I feel as if I am contributing to the ongoing works that are involved in the job. They show their appreciation when you have complete something and it feels quite rewarding.
It has been well structured right from the start with the induction and all the training that I able to attend. The timing of the programme couldn't have been better and allows me to improve my knowledge of the industry. You always have support whenever required
I have had great support off my training provider as they have clearly told me what was required of me to complete my apprenticeship making it very easy and enjoyable at Costain. They have always listen to what ever issues I have come across and resolved them
The support from the employer is great, they are always willing to help me learn about the industry. They give me guidance on all parts of the projects that are on site and help me resolve any issues that I have. Everybody within Costain has made it very easy to settle into the company.
The salary that I have been given, I think is good, especially at my age and considering how inexperienced I am. I think it is more that reasonable pay for a trainee. I am satisfied with the pay at Costain
Yes, I have been included in day trips outside of work whereby I would learn more about other companies and the work they do to broaden my knowledge of the industry.
Yes
They provide a very good opportunity to work in a very comfortable environment which can be hard to find. The industry is also great one where lots can be learnt.
