My day to day role involves running shifts and maintaining the store. Serving customers and providing great customer service and great food each day as well as looking after a team around me to help me achieve this. Looking after health and safety and food safety whilst there is another big aspect.
I have learnt some new skills and developed upon my existing skills. When it comes to the skills I already knew, the apprenticeship has helped me look at things from a different perspective and to possibly adjust the ways I deal with certain situations and change the way I may have normally dealt with it.
I enjoy my programme because it’s a mix of being able to do theory work as well as then being able to put this into practice whilst on shift. There is a lot of information to take in but it’s good to get the brain going and think about thinks in a different light.
The programme is very well organised, each meeting and webinar is always on time and the trainers are always at hand to be able to help with any queries I may have. I feel the course links to each section well and isn’t just all over the place which is good.
My employer gives me the support I need between making sure I have time to complete my theory learning and attending meetings and webinars as well as making sure I also have time to then put this into practice whilst I’m actually on shift. Frequent check ins are also helpful.
My training provider has always been very helpful. helping when I need it and even giving me a nudge in the right direction when I may not fully understand something. Everyone I have had contact with has been very supportive throughout the whole experience I.
Through completing the apprenticeship, it has helped me within my role because the things I learn in theory I can either apply a new way of looking at a situation whilst on shift or I can tweak and upgrade the ways I would normally deal with them which in turn makes me a better manager.
We often have team days out at work along with a lot of charity events you can get involved with. The company sponsors and will pay for you to get involved in sports and team activities and most recently we had a team ‘sports day’ which was great to get involved.
Yes
I feel it’s a great place to work and socially it’s also very good. The pay compared to a lot of other companies is actually very good and the progression and training is also some of the best. The fact you can also gain qualifications as well is very underrated.
The main tip I would give is to be yourself but also open yourself up to new situations. The more you open up the better experience you will have as you’re allowing yourself to learn and grow. Not just within the job but as a person as well c.
