Administration for a steel company, assisting with. booking on jobs, answering phone calls, taking messages and organising paperwork.
improved my microsoft systems skills, especially with microsoft excel. Developed communication skills both verbally and via email.
I do enjoy my programme but I feel there are a lack of detailed resources - you are kind of left to figure out what you need to do on your own without as much guidance as there could be. I was having to use google to find information and when doing my PEL there was a lot of gaps.
It is pretty well structures - meetings scheduled once a month via zoom. Tasks are set out to be completed by the next meeting.
My employer is very supportive with my apprenticeship work. They are accommodating when I need to take time for meetings and doing work.
I receive a lot of support from my training provider. I am quite an independant worker so i work better alone but i know that if i need any support, i receive a response very quickly addressing any questions i have.
I don't strongly feel it has helped to perform better in my role but my training provider has been good with helping me link my knowledge to my role.
There are no activities like this in my work - it is a small business that doesnt offer these activities.
Yes
good team members, strong community. The work can sometimes be stressful as when staff go on holiday it causes a heavier workload but once you have adjusted to the role the stress eases up.
Be prepared for having to take on roles that require responsibility. Sometimes have to deal with difficult customers as well, so will need to be somewhat headstrong in order to deal with these situations.
